On a gorgeously sunny June day, not too hot and with only a light breeze, 27 cyclists gathered at the Daily Scoop in Almonte for the annual ride planned for Mississippi Mills Bicycle Month by the Rusty Spokes of Carleton Place. This year there were 7 Almontonians joining the 20 from Carleton Place for the ride. Several from Carleton Place had cycled to Almonte before 8:15 a.m. to have breakfast at the Daily Scoop before the ride.
As a sponsor of this ride, the Daily Scoop put on a breakfast special for the bikers, making sure we had enough sustenance to carry us through the ride. Thank You Daily

By 9:30 we were all assembled and ready to go. Down the Appleton sideroad and across to Appleton where we stopped by the dam for a rest and nutrition break – did I mention that this is a seniors group who ride in a liesurely style?! Then on past the golf course and along the Rotary trail and back to Almonte via County Rd 8, Rae Road and zig zag across Almonte avoiding heavy traffic as much as possible.
All arrived safely by noon and agreed it was the best ride yet. Not as hot as last year, no stiff wind, and with more of us from Almonte than in previous years.
