The wedding of Shirley Deugo and Al Potvin on December 28, 2013 was a unique affair. They invited only their closest friends – the entire population of Mississippi Mills. Al is a well known Almonte businessman, philanthropist and community leader and Shirley is the owner of the popular Fulton’s Pancake House. Thus, they know nearly everyone; the church was packed. A reception at the Civitan Hall was also jammed with well wishers. They asked that instead of gifts, donations be made to the Hub Hospice in honour and in memory of their late first spouses, George Duego and Barb Potvin. That request raised $8,000 for the Hub Hospice.
