Shaun McLaughlin book will mark 175th anniversary of “Patriot War”

Shaun McLaughlin, Ramsay Ward Councillor, history buff and author is writing a book on the Patriot War to be published next spring, just in time for the 175th anniversary of the start of the Patriot War.

The book will not cover the whole scope of the conflict, instead it will conentrate on events connected to the raiders and rebels from New York State.

The Patriot War was the war spawned by the rebellions in Upper and Lower Canada in 1837. The rebels – the Patriots in English and the Patriotes in French, as they called themselves – joined with American sympathizers to attack Canada numerous times between December 1837 and December 1838.

The publisher, History Press,  specializes in regional history – short books (about 50,000 words), plus images and illustrations.

McLaughlin also publishes a periodical blog called Raiders and Rebels at http://www.raidersandrebels.com/p/my-novel.html
