Summer!
Just breathe. Seek out those places that provide rest – you’ve earned it – and there is ample time for play.
Imagine the hours to be enjoyed beside the great river, maybe reading, picnicking, as part of a community celebration, or even flying a kite. And just maybe, launch a kayak or canoe and enter into the ongoing history of a place that formed on waters running past the shore. Perfection.
Make it happen! The Friends of the Almonte Beach are keen to have you join them to ensure that the beach on the edge of the North Lanark Agricultural Society land stays in top shape, clean and ready to welcome the fun of summer daze. They need hearts and hands…ok, hands…to keep debris picked up and the site maintained in tandem with the support that is provided by Mississippi Mills.
It’s our beach so help to create the best of summer memories! Lend a hand to the work ahead, make friends, earn community hours and when all is said and done, have fun. And if you have pictures or memories of times at the Almonte beach we want to know about those too.
Email Connie at conniejbielby@gmail.com to volunteer or if you have a story or picture to share.
