Virginia Legault – obituary

LEGAULT,

VIRGINIA (nee Vezina)

In loving memory of Virginie (Virginia) (nee Vezina) Legault who passed away on March 17th, 2013 at the Almonte Country Haven in Almonte Ontario at the age of 85. The daughter of the late Laurent and Louisa (nee Gervais) Vezina of Field, Ontario, Virginie is predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Gaston Legault who passed away in 2008 and her brothers, Henri, Adelard, Elie and sister Rosa.  A resident of Lively for 54 years, she was known for her sweet disposition and gentle nature.  Quick to smile and laugh till she had tears in her eyes Virginia had a joy for life. Her talents were many and she enjoyed sewing, knitting and making crafts of all kinds.  A great cook who was willing to try recipes from all over the world, no one ever left her home without having been invited for a tasty meal or a sweet treat.  Virginia’s garden overflowed with flowers and vegetables – some unusual and her green thumb meant that every fall there would be jars of pickles, preserves and jams. Always ready to try something new she was in her own way a quiet adventurer.  She was never happier then when she was enjoying the out of doors with her children and her dearly loved husband Gaston. Together they traveled and camped throughout Northern Ontario and spent many summers and hours fishing on Lake Minisinakwa and Lake Nipissing. Her patience and commitment to catching the big one was unparalleled and she caught her fair share.

Virginia was always up for a good game of cards with family and friends at camp after a day on the lake. She was a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.  Virginia will be deeply missed by her children Claudette Legault (Janice Acton) of Halifax, Ron Legault of Hong Kong and Anita Legault (Diamond Uriarte) of Carleton Place, and her grand children Isaac and Keira Uriarte who brought her great joy. She is survived by her two brothers Noel (Giselle) Vezina and Elzear of Sturgeon Falls. Internment will be in the Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Sturgeon Falls.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Almonte Country Haven for the kind and gentle care they provided to “sweet” Virginia for the past 4 years.  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Almonte Country Haven “Never Too Late” Initiative.  Friends can visit with the family on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the C.R. Gamble Funeral Home.
