The Mississippi Mills Youth Centre (MMYC) is now in its eighth year of operation. MMYC supports youth in the discovery of themselves and their community by offering programming, activities, educational opportunities, and events.
MMYC fills a need in Mississippi Mills for youth programming and services. The youth centre is a community asset that benefits youth physical and mental well-being, provides a space for social interaction, and fosters a sense of community belonging, which reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness that are common in rural areas. The supportive relationships developed between youth and MMYC staff are critical for personal growth and resilience of youth. The centre recorded more than 3200 youth visits in 2023, showing the ongoing need for youth programming and services.
With the generous help of community partners, volunteers, and donors, MMYC is able to provide a variety of programs, activities, and events for youth. The centre operates six days a week, and offers a drop-in program, healthy eating and nutrition, homework help, special events and other educational programming. Additionally, recreation programs such as camps and field trips are scheduled throughout the year.
The corporate donation campaign for the youth centre is currently underway. Donations received during this campaign help the centre cover operational and day to day expenses. Local residents and businesses are encouraged to get involved, or to help spread the word. Local businesses are being approached by board members to enlist their help in providing some of the much needed funds.
Every donation is valued and has a direct impact on youth in the community. Small amounts can have a big impact: $250 allows the Centre to serve 100 meals. $1500 can take 25 youth on a field trip. A $3000 donation allows us to keep the Centre open on Saturdays (an important day in the life of our youth) for three months.

Donations can be a one-time payment or set up as a monthly contribution which will directly support youth in your community.
