The Great Canadian Song-Along is an annual event that celebrates and promotes Canadian songwriting. Started in Toronto in 1993 by singer-songwriter Karen Leslie-Hall (now based in Gananoque) the Great Canadian Song-Along invites songwriters to write a song about one of the year’s selected topics, and to then perform their brand new song at a Great Canadian Song-Along concert.
Song-Along events have been run in Ottawa, Gananoque, and many other locations over the years – and this year for the second time, Almonte is joining the party! A free concert to showcase the new songs will be held on Friday April 24 at Ottawa Valley Coffee, 61 Mill St. Almonte. Come on out and hear what 14 talented Almonte-and-area songwriters have come up with! Prepare for a night of beautiful surprises – the Song-Along always brings forth a stunning variety of lyrical and musical ideas.
Doors open at 6:30 and music will start at 7:00 sharp. This is a free event but a hat will be passed for those who feel able to help cover costs. To learn more about the Great Canadian Song-Along and how to participate in possible future events, send an e-mail to songcirclecollective@gmail.com
