Ottawa artist Sanjeev Sivarulrasa will celebrate the grand opening of his new gallery in the Thoburn Mill this Saturday, November 22, from 3 to 6 pm.

Located in the former Hummingbird Chocolate location, Sanjeev’s gallery features some of his remarkable photos of the night skies, taken through both conventional cameras and sophisticated astronomical telescopes. He also has some of his paintings on display.

Sanjeev spent fourteen years as an international tax lawyer with the federal government in Ottawa, and 12 years ago began observing the night skies through telescopes. In 2011 he mounted the first exhibition of his photos at Ottawa’s Cube Gallery. In 2013 the City of Ottawa hosted an exhibit of his work at the Karsh-Masson Gallery. Also in 2013 he published his book Vanishing Stars.

Sanjeev considered various locations before settling on his new Almonte gallery and studio. The space appealed to him because of its extensive natural light, and more importantly because of what he sees as a burgeoning local arts scene and the opportunities for synergy that creates. Apart from his own work, he also plans to display curated exhibits by other artists in the space.

He welcomes everyone to Saturday’s grand opening. Wine and other refreshments will be provided.

Location: 83 Little Bridge St, Almonte, Ontario
