The Almonte Inferno Jr Hockey Club played their inaugural home opener on Saturday night at the Almonte Arena. The visiting St. Isidore Eagles came away with a 3-2 victory, netting the game-winning goal with 5 seconds remaining.
The Eagles, who never trailed in the game, opened the scoring less than 3 minutes in. The Inferno answered later in the opening period with a goal from Landon Prosty, who put home a rebound off a slap shot from the blue line.
The Inferno entered the 3rd period trailing 2-1, before Braden Kehoe scored the equalizer, sending a backhand shot through the 5 hole of the St. Isidore goaltender.
The Inferno fall to 0-2 on the season and will look for their 1st win in a home game against the South Grenville Rangers today at 1 pm.
