Local Almonte resident Joachim Moenig is returning to Australia important historical film footage that was presented to his father as a gift many years ago by an Australian trade commissioner. The footage was shot nearly 100 years ago and includes 35mm reels showing Australia’s early cities and rural life. The film has been in Mr. Moenig’s family for decades and he decided to donate it to the Australian archives. It was given one more showing at the Bytown Cinema in Ottawa, before it is packed and shipped to Australia. Read the full story here.
