Amanda Pulker-Mok, a mother of two who has been involved in community activities in Mississippi Mills and Carleton Place over the past while, has been selected in an open vote by Mississippi Mills Council tonight to take the Council seat once occupied by Bernard Cameron, who died earlier this year in tragic circumstances.
In the Personal Statement submitted to Council as part of the process to fill Mr. Cameron’s seat, Amanda said “as a new community member I can offer a unique perspective [on] what attracted us to Almonte in the first place and what will keep us here in the long term.”
Amanda concluded her statement by saying that “I love Almonte and have a strong desire to serve the thriving community as ward Councillor.”
Mayor Shaun McLaughlin notes on Facebook that “we now have five women on Council. That may be an MM record.”
