Valley Radio interview with dialects researcher airs tomorrow

Professor Sali Tagliamonte of the University of Toronto was interviewed on Tuesday morning, for FM radio 104.9 MHz in Pembroke, about her dialects research in the valley.  During the last week of May, Sali conducted interviews at Lanark, Hopetown, Middleville, Clayton, Pakenham, Arnprior and Almonte with residents who were born and raised in the area.

Jamie Cybulski, host of ‘In The Morning’, will be airing a portion of the interview tomorrow, Friday the 22nd at 6:50 a.m. and again at 9:50 a.m.  If FM reception from Pembroke is a challenge at your location on 104.9 MHz, you can listen via the station’s website at  On the upper left of the home page, click on ‘Listen Live’.

Previous interviews about Sali’s dialects research in Ontario can also be heard on-line.  She and Almonte resident Myrtle Crawford were interviewed at the Almonte library on Thursday, May 31st,
by Laurie Fagan for the ‘Ottawa Morning’ program.  The two hour session was edited to almost eight minutes and broadcast across the region on 91.5 FM during the Friday morning edition, June 1st, about 7:50 a.m.  Here’s the link to hear the feature.

Before her Almonte visit, Sali was interviewed by host Wei Chen for the CBC’s  ‘Ontario Morning’ program about her recent dialects research in the Haliburton region.  The interview is archived on the program’s website at .  On the right side, click on ‘Past Episodes’, then, over to the left, click on ‘That’s Haliburton’ for May 23.  At the next window that opens, click on ‘Listen’.
