Backyard birds, May 7 2014

As is usual at this time of year, my yard is in transition. The Goldfinches that were around most of the winter, and then disappeared, are back and showing their full colours. The Cardinals never do leave my yard, though they’ve been more infrequent lately. The Blue Jays left a few weeks backs, and have been replaced by Grackles, Blackbirds and Brown-Headed Cowbirds.

I also have White-Crowned Sparrows most days lately, and the occasional Dark-eyed Junco and American Tree Sparrow.

I also had a Brown Thrasher for the first time in the yard, last Sunday. A few photos:
