Do you have a talent you’d love to share with our local youth?
The Young Awards Foundation is committed to fostering arts initiatives in the schools of Mississippi Mills. Once a year, they host a fundraising gala which recognizes community and artistic volunteerism. The money raised is then filtered back into the community by funding arts initiatives in our local schools.
School principals and teachers are encouraged to submit proposals to the Young Awards’ Funds Distribution Committee. They can request funding for specific events or projects, or to cover the cost of bringing artists and performers into the schools.
But here’s the thing: they don’t know who to ask! That’s where you come in.
Teachers and administrators would love to hear from you if you have a program that would be suitable. In the past, the Young Awards have funded the purchase of ukuleles and rhythm instruments, puppet-making, weaving, mixed media, paper-making and drumming – just to name a few.
If you’re an artist or musician and would like to offer up your special talents, let us know! The proposal deadline for schools is coming up on Nov. 14, so please respond ASAP to the principals at the following schools: Almonte District High School, Naismith, R. Tait McKenzie, Holy Name of Mary, and Pakenham Public School.
Thank you once again for your support in bringing the Arts to our children. It is much appreciated!
