The campaign to stop Enerdu’s plan to build a hydro complex in the heart of Almonte got a high-profile boost this weekend when noted author and advocate Maude Barlow, chair of the Council of Canadians, publicly declared her opposition. She also urged Canadians to sign the petition.
The Council of Canadians is an “organization that advocates for clean water, fair trade, green energy, public health care, and a vibrant democracy. The organization is headquartered in Ottawa with regional offices in Halifax, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver and a network of local chapters across the country.” (Wikipedia)
