The Great Canadian Song-Along is an annual event that celebrates and promotes Canadian songwriting. Started in Toronto in 1993 by singer-songwriter Karen Leslie-Hall (now based in Gananoque) the Great Canadian Song-Along invites songwriters to write a song about one of the year’s selected topics, and to then perform their brand new song at a Great Canadian Song-Along concert.
Song-Along events have been run in Ottawa every year since 1994 – and this year, for the first time, Almonte is joining the party! Come out to Ottawa Valley Coffee on Mill St, on Saturday May 9 to hear what 14 talented Almonte-and-area songwriters have come up with. Prepare for a night of beautiful surprises – the Song-Along always brings forth a stunning variety of lyrical and musical ideas. Doors at 6:30 and music will start at 7:00 sharp. This is a free event but a hat will be passed for those who feel able to help cover costs.
