Thousands of visitors streamed into town today for the 30th anniversary edition of the North Lanark Highland Games, and organizers think this year’s event will turn out to be the most successful yet.
A record 25 bands took part today, and were led into this afternoon’s opening ceremonies by the Royal Canadian Air Force Pipes and Drums. This year’s games also attracted several new vendors, whose booths were drawing sizable crowds.
The guest of honour was Almonte’s Jeff Semple, an ADHS grad who has gone on to a successful career as a journalist with CBC News.
