In response to a reader question about the maple syrup season this year, Shirley Duego of Fulton's Pancake House and Sugar Bush sent us this update. 

 The season started early for many around Feb 22. We boiled our first syrup on Thurs Mar 8. Great flavour & light grade. Today the sap ran again & we have just started to boil this evening. As for the quantity one never knows. The sugar snow that fell overnight on Friday night always promises more sap to come. This time of year sugar makers are probably the only people that like to see a snow fall. As for the outcome of the season, I polished my crystal ball but it is still too hazy to get a good reading! March Break is an exciting time here.
