Rotary Club of Carleton Place & Mississippi Mills
Your local Rotary Club has joined up with ShelterBox Canada, Rotary International and the Canadian Federal Government in providing disaster relief to the area of the Philippines recently struck by Typhoon Haiyan. The Rotary Club of Carleton Place & Mississippi Mills has provided $1,500.00 to ShelterBox Canada to assist with the ongoing Disaster Relief in the Philippines. The Federal Government will be matching that donation. With the total monies provided, 3 ShelterBoxes will be sent to the Philippines. To date, 4,000 ShelterBoxes have been designated for Disaster Relief in the Philippines.
What is a ShelterBox?
A typical ShelterBox contains;
- a family tent
- blankets
- water purification
- cooking utensils
- a stove
- a tool kit
- a children’s activity pack and other vital items.
All of these items are contained in a hard and durable plastic bin which can be repurposed as needed by the recipients. It can be used as storage for the items sent or any number of other uses. All with the assistance of a specially trained ShelterBox Response Team who work with local partners and international organizations.
