On Friday, June 3, Mills Community Support honoured 4 of the 6 volunteers that were nominated to receive awards through the Ontario Provincial Volunteer Award program.
Volunteers along with their guests for the evening and Lorne Heslop, Mills Community Support Board Chairman and Jan Watson, Volunteer Coordinator, went down to Ottawa where we went out for a lovely supper prior to the awards ceremony.
After supper we headed over to Tudor Hall on Riverside Drive for the volunteer ceremony along with about 200 other volunteers from around the area who were there to receive awards. The smallest award of the night was for 5 years of service and the longest award was for 66 years of service!!

Receiving awards this year were: Debbi O’Malley (5 years) who is one of our bus drivers; Dougal Martin (5 years) who is a bus driver and drives clients to medical appointments; Annie Gray (5 years) who delivers Meals on Wheels to clients in their own homes; Cathy Munro (10 years) who volunteers at our monthly Supper Social dining program; Brenda Schaller (10 years) who is a volunteer at our Lunch Bunch dining program and Mary Lawson (10 years) who is now retired but volunteered at our Lunch Bunch dining program.

Mills Community Support would like to thank the volunteers for their service and for supporting seniors and adults with disabilities in their own homes in our community – without you we could not offer the services, supports and programs that we are able to offer.
