On behalf of the patients, residents, staff and physicians of Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor (AGH/FVM), a heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers for their generous contributions of time and energy over the past 12 months. Together, our volunteers gave more than 13,000 hours of service between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.
Volunteers work across the organization providing companionship, comfort, support and refreshment. They assist our Recreation staff with an impressive program of activities such as bingo and other games, parties to celebrate special events and singers or musicians who often also volunteer their services to provide entertainment.
They assist staff in programs such as Physiotherapy and Day Hospital, enabling these programs to run smoothly. Another group of volunteers secures the artwork that helps to provide a welcoming environment for patients/residents and their loved ones.
Volunteers support our staff by helping with menu distribution, chart preparation and reception duties. We appreciate the fundraising work that they do through the gift shop, tuck shop, bake sales and other events.
We are grateful for the many volunteers who organize special events and activities in the community, raising funds on behalf of the AGH/FVM Foundation to purchase equipment for the Hospital and Manor. Others in the community contribute their skills as knitters, sewers and quilters to provide hats, quilts and other items.
I would also like to acknowledge the members of the Volunteer Services Committee and the Auxiliary, who are volunteers supporting volunteers, and thank them for their hard work.
Members of the Hospital’s Board of Directors and of the Foundation Board are all volunteers as well, who give many hours of their time to provide guidance, oversight and leadership.
Every volunteer who gives of himself or herself to support AGH/FVM makes an important contribution to providing safe, high-quality care for our patients and residents. Thank you for your dedication.
Immediate openings for volunteers
We have immediate openings for both the Adult and Junior volunteers.
The Junior Volunteer Program is offered in one-week blocks from June 29 to August 31. Anyone wishing to volunteer will be asked to complete an application form and will be interviewed before being accepted into the program. Applications must be returned no later than May 15.
Adult Volunteer applications are accepted at any time. Training and orientation are mandatory for each volunteer. Please contact Anne McRae at 613-256-2514 ext. 2226 or amcrae @ agh-fvm.com.
Application packages can also be picked up at the Hospital between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
