Sell Out Crowd Attends the Almonte Craft Beer Fest

by Edith Cody-Rice

It was a sunny, pleasantly warm evening on Friday, July 24 when the parking lot at the Old Town Hall began to fill up with a capacity crowd attending the 3rd edition of the Almonte Craft Beer Fest. Nine stands of alcoholic drinks plus one featuring non-alcoholic sips greeted the mingling crowd along with four food stands with a variety of offerings. Picnic tables were crowded with people chatting and laughing, enjoying a Friday night out on a perfect summer evening.

The Millstone interviewed organizer Susan Law, the Events and Program Coordinator for Mississippi Mills, who said that she started this event three years ago to just allow people to come out for a relaxing evening and watch the sun set over the Mississippi River. It has been a sell out since its founding.

The crowd was in good spirits, warmed by the evening sun and the atmosphere was joyous as they ate, drank and were entertained by the band Sussex and the guitar duo  Jones-Finn.
