Yard of the Week — Margaret Sauermann

2728 County Road 29, Pakenham  – Margaret Sauermann

The cheerfully coloured front flower bed which can be seen from the road, always has something blooming throughout the gardening season.  There are also many flowers around the house and a fairly large vegetable garden.  Mrs. Sauermann, who is now in her 90’s has worked in her gardens by herself for many years.  With the help of friends and her daughter, she has managed to keep her extensive gardens going. Due  to a broken hip in the spring, she was unable to do any garden work, she has not lost her keen interest in her garden.  Now again she goes into her gardens and even manages to do a bit of weeding.
