Local artist Andrew Jahn supports food bank

Since 2019, food bank usage has more than tripled in Lanark County.

According to Lanark County Food Bank manager Tammy Parent, in 2019 it cost the food bank $5,000 a month to feed 500 individuals and now it costs $40,000 a month to feed 1800. 38% of those are children. The food bank operates solely on community donations and support, and with increased costs of living affecting Lanark County, it is more important than ever to give back and support individuals in our community who are struggling to thrive.

That’s why Almonte artist Andrew Jahn and friends began a fundraising project with the goal of raising $10,000 for Lanark County Food Bank-The Hungerstop. This amount will provide two months of fresh milk and eggs.

Andrew Jahn himself was a recipient of Lanark County Food Bank Services between 2019 and 2022. Jahn was a full-time post secondary student struggling to make ends meet but the generosity of the food bank provided a safety net to help him focus on his studies without worrying about missing meals. Now in 2026, Jahn is a College and University graduate working full-time and wants to spread awareness about Lanark County Food Bank-The Hungerstop and encourage the community to keep supporting them. Jahn believes that community services like Lanark County Food Bank are fundamental for helping vulnerable members of the community succeed.

Andrew Jahn and friends have set a deadline to raise $10,000 by the end of October 2026. Currently the project has raised $5571.00.

Andrew Jahn will be busking outside of the tourism centre in Carleton Place on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month between May 30th and August 30th. A final event will be held in September or October with the date to be announced on his socials @andrewjjahn at the end of May.
