A Double Celebration: Our Annual Strawberry Social and the New Home of the Lanark Highlands Basketry Museum
Join us for a special day at the Middleville & District Museum on Sunday, June 28 as we celebrate the relocation of the Lanark Highlands Basketry Museum to its new home! This event will be held alongside our popular Strawberry Social, making it a day filled with community, culture, and, of course, delicious strawberries.
Highlights of the Day:
- Meet Ankaret Dean: The founder of the Lanark Highlands Basketry Museum, Ankaret Dean, will be present to share her passion and extensive knowledge about the art of basketry. Learn about the rich history and craftsmanship behind these unique baskets. Visitors can also learn to make a strawberry pottle basket—only 30 spots are available, so preregister on our website to secure your place (walk-in registration may be available if space permits)
- Strawberry Delights: Enjoy local strawberries, cake and ice cream as you mingle with fellow community members and museum enthusiasts. Enjoy local coffee and refreshing cold lemonade as you visit with your neighbours and new friends.
- Museum Tours: Take a tour of the Museum to see the baskets in their new home!
