Larson
Patrick John Howard
September 7, 1951 – July 4, 2026
Pat passed away peacefully July 4 after living with Parkinson’s for over 20 years.
Survived by his wife Jane and his children Isaac (Shannon), Kate, and Anna, and grandchildren Duncan and Evelyn. Also survived by his siblings Diana (Jerrard), Tim (Sara), Caroly (Stephen), and sister-in-law Anne (late Ben), his nieces Sylvie, Sophie (Eliot), Ruby, Meg, Heather (Dave), Pam (Jeff), nephews Corey and Adrian and great niece and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Ken and Val Larson, brother David, granddaughter Isabel and nephews Drew and Jack.
Pat spent his working life with the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority in flood forecasting and enjoyed meeting the people who lived on the lakes and rivers of the watershed. He loved his family and spent many hours driving them to and from their activities – what one friend referred to as his “ministry of driving”. He also very much enjoyed playing soccer and playing hockey, especially with the Conservation Authority team, until decreasing balance and mobility made it impossible.
The whole family extends a huge thank you to Cindy and Sara for his home care and to all the wonderful staff at Almonte Country Haven who took amazing care of Pat for the last four months. Their care, compassion, and humour were invaluable and so very much appreciated.
Funeral will take place at Holy Name of Mary Church, Almonte on Monday July 13, with visiting at the church at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11 am. Reception to follow at the Almonte Legion.
If you wish to make a donation in Pat’s memory, he requested they go to his favourite charity, Samaritan’s Purse, especially to their clean water initiatives.
He lived a life of kindness, good humour, and compassion. May he rest in peace.
