On Saturday August 1, the Mississippi Mills Textile Museum was mobbed in the late afternoon by over 300 people, all attending the Tunic Show scheduled from 4-8 pm that afternoon. 120 tunics were on display showing remarkable creativity. Organizer Laura Starkey told The Millstone that anyone could apply to enter a tunic, the show wasn’t juried. The only rule was that each participant had to use a tunic . As Ms. Starkey said “It was about creative spark, finding your voice and the tunic was just the vessel”. Ballots were distributed as the public entered to encourage voting on “peoples’ choice awards” and tunics were for sale. Each tunic had a tag with the artist’s story attached.
