New garden on the Alameda

This summer, a group of Almonte residents built a new garden to beautify the pathway that links the Alameda to Reserve and Albert Streets. Neighbours moved dozens of stones, removed a ton of weeds, added yards of topsoil, planted the flowers and shrubs, spread the mulch and hauled many buckets of water. Sheila Furlong, who led the effort, thanks those who donated plants and compost, contributed to the purchase of the mulch and provided weed trimming on the perimeter of the stone wall.  It was truly a ‘grass-roots’ initiative. We hope you enjoy the garden!
