A way to make paddling accessible on the Mississippi?

EDITOR’S NOTE: I received  this very interesting letter from a reader about efforts elsewhere in Ontario to get folks out paddling on their local waterway.

I just returned from a trip to my home town of Terrace Bay, on the north shore of Lake Superior. In this town, the sport of kayaking continues to grow – both locally and as a tourist attraction. I have attached some pictures of a kayak launch – a newer feature at the town’s water front.

It us used as an aid to all kayakers, those with special accessibility needs and without. As PM Trudeau recently demonstrated, even the fittest amongst us can still struggle with getting in and out of a kayak. Perhaps a water feature that might help boost the sport of kayaking on the Mississippi?

Thank you,
Kevin Regis
