AGH Canada Day paddle event postponed

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the PADDLE FOR AGH event has been cancelled for July 1 due to safety concerns.

The Paddle for AGH organizing committee has decided to cancel the event for tomorrow, as a result of safety concerns related to high water, rushing currents, and flooded grounds.

The unprecedented rainfall has made the water extremely high on the river, which would be dangerous for the canoe, kayak, paddle board and raft races.

It has also made the grounds completely saturated, so setting up for children’s games, displays, food and musical entertainment is problematic. (Not to mention power cords to concessions, registration etc.)

We are also concerned that the weather is supposed to continue to be rainy throughout today and tomorrow so the river may get even higher and grounds even wetter.

We will endeavour to announce a new date as soon as possible.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers.  We hope you will still be available to participate in the event when we’ve determined a new date.

Please turn in any pledges that have been collected to the AGH – FVM Foundation, 75 Spring St., Almonte.  You will still be awarded your pledge incentives.

For questions, please email: aroberts@agh-fvm.com or call 613-277-6203
