Almonte Lawn Bowling Club is stirring as it makes plans for the upcoming lawn bowling season, and looks forward to another successful year! The Executive, headed by Guy Chaput, met at the Waterside on February 5th to discuss a number of ideas to attract new members, provide training, and sustain both social and competitive opportunities to enjoy the sport of lawn bowling. On Friday February 20th, 30 members met at the Rideau Restaurant in Kanata to enjoy mid-winter socialization and a delicious Chinese meal. You can bet that a lot of the conversation centred around lawn bowling, upcoming competitions, and optimism that the current cold temperatures and snow are but a prelude to lots of wonderful summer fun at the lawn bowling greens in Almonte!
Think about joining us this summer, whether you are new to the sport, or returning after a hiatus! Plans to host a Yard Sale are underway for Saturday May 16th 17th if it rains). An Open House is scheduled for Saturday May 23rd (24th if it rains) with training opportunities to learn the game in the week following, and two weeks free trial lawn bowling to new registrants. Our club is vibrant all summer from May to September. Come out, learn a new sport, make new friends! Watch for more information in the next few months!
