Lanark man charged with attempted murder, arson near Carleton Place

OPP-SmallOn  April 1 the Lanark County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious domestic at a residence in Beckwith Township near Carleton Place.

A 59-year-old male from Lanark County was arrested and held for bail.  He has been charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Arson – disregard for human life
  • Arson – damage to own property
  • Cruelty to animals
  • Uttering threats

The victim was transported to hospital and was later released.

A bail hearing was held on Tuesday April 5, 2016 in the Ontario Court of Justice, Perth.
