Summer is coming at last and so are the Summer Games for seniors in our district. Since the Ontario Games are only held every second year, a Regional Games will be held on a single day this summer in Kingston. The organizing meeting is April 29 so the date will be picked by then
Our local games will be held in May and June this year at venues in Almonte and Carleton Place. The registration forms can be picked up at the Legion branches in Almonte & Carleton Place, The Almonte Old Town Hall ,Waterside & Carambeck Community Center, Beckwith Township Office,Clayton General Store and Nicholson’s Sundries in Pakenham. Please only return forms and cheques to the Almonte & Carleton Place venues. Winners of medals will be eligible to play in Kingston and how many allowed in each event will be decided at the meeting in Kingston.
Since the OSGA year is from April1,2015 to March 31,2016, all players will pay the yearly $17 fee before playing this summer and can also play in the Winter Games this fall. This allows you to play in as many events as you wish. There will be additional fees in some games such as golf and bowling and at all day events where a lunch is required.
The first events are Four Hand Euchre on Friday, May 1 at 1 pm at the Carleton Place Legion. In order to set up teams, convenor Ann Ecker(253-1359) and Shirley Gamble(257-2606) need to be notified in advance of the euchre if you want to play but you can bring your $17 cheque ,made out to Disrict 7A OSGA to the first games where Registrar Richard Fitzgibbon will receive them.
Alton Sutton (257-7039)is convening the Darts on Monday May 4 and Tuesday, May 5 at the Carleton Place Legion so will need advance registrations for numbers too. The booklets with all the details will be out in time for other events.
