Just wondering…

I wonder why the bunny and her baby insist on chewing on the pedals on my flowers in my garden. Despite the fact that I have sprinkled red pepper and cayenne powder on the flowers, the little critters keep coming back for more. I will admit they are cute. Still, I wonder how I can stop them from chowing down on my plants. I wonder.

I live on a street in Almonte where there are two schools and an assisted living facility. There are these barriers in the middle of the road, dividing both sides of the road that say SLOW. Despite that fact, there are an amazing number of idiots who drive through a 40 km/h zone at 70/80 km/h or higher. I wonder why? Just saying!

Have you ever noticed the pace of life and change in our world seems to be getting faster and faster? I am approaching 80 years of age. I have seen the times move quickly on occasion but not like this. This is different. I wonder why? Just curious.

Pretty sure most of us have noticed how the climate is changing and certainly getting warmer in both winter and summers. And yet there are highly intelligent, well-educated people who act as provocateurs for those groups who deny there is any change in the climate in the face of the obvious science, fact, and common sense. I wonder why this is? Just wondering.

I am curious as to why a certain Washington-based politician continues to insult our country when it is we, and not his country that entered into World War II with our allies years before his country decided to engage. It was our wonderful folks of Gander, Newfoundland, who billeted, fed, and befriended hundreds of Americans stranded at Gander airport during 9/11. Seems like pretty strange behaviour from our border country. I wonder why?

I like Kraft Dinner. I have been chowing down on Kraft Dinner for nearly 70 years. Today when I buy a box of this precious food, I do notice the price has increased. That said there are sales on Kraft Dinner which is really cool but what really upsets me is I find the noodles are smaller and there are fewer of them in the box. Why is this? I wonder?

I am handicapped and have a card for my dashboard so I can park in places close to front doors. These parking spaces are clearly marked for handicapped folks. Costco outlets have done a super job in creating their parking lots. Lots of elbow space. They also have set aside 12-15 handicapped spaces. I go there frequently—sometimes early, sometimes midday. (What a gold mine that corporation is!) Each time I hunt out the handicapped parking spaces right away. Each time they are filled. The last 4 times I checked all the vehicles parked there. Most times, about 50% of them had a handicapped placard either on their visor or on the dash. Most trips I have to park a zillion miles away from the front doors—the only spaces available. With my walking sticks, I wander over to the handicapped parking area to observe. During that observation period I saw two guys my age leave the handicapped area who appeared to be in very decent shape. Not sure how they qualified to get the card- maybe it was for a partner who was genuinely handicapped. Who knows! But I also saw two other young gentlemen (no card visible in their vehicles) who seemed to be in a real rush. They got in their vehicle and drove off. I have seen the same thing in major grocery stores as well. So sorry to say I have concluded there are folks out there who are not handicapped—do not meet the criteria to be medically assessed as handicapped, but who are gaming the system or simply don’t give a damn; they want a preferential parking space—handicapped folks be damned! Go figure! I wonder why people act that way! I wonder!

I take the Queensway fairly frequently and for many years when travelling into Kanata or Ottawa. There is an extreme left lane for vehicles carrying two passengers. I often see a single driver tearing up that lane in a hurry to get somewhere. Never have I seen a police cruiser pull over these single drivers. I wonder why a good idea to improve traffic flow is not enforced? Just wondering!
