The Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit led by property crimes Officer, Detective Constable Lori Lobinowich, along with members of the Regional Agricultural Crime Team (RACT) and members of Lanark County OPP has cleared numerous break and enters and has laid several criminal charges as a result of investigations into property crimes in the Township of Lanark Highlands.
As a result of the OPP investigation back in March/April 2012, two men, age 20 and 26 from Smiths Falls have both been charged each with 29 counts of Break and Enter, 2 counts of Possession of Stolen Property and 2 counts of Theft Under $5000.00. The OPP investigation has also recovered well over $20,000.00 dollars worth of stolen property. The charges are in relation to the many Break and Enters at Sylvain Lodge as well as cottages and sheds located on Rogers Lane, Thomas Way, Leslie Drive, Hall Shore Drive, Watson’s Corners Road and River Drive in Lanark Highlands.
One of the accused has also been charged by the Ministry of Natural Resources with several offences under The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
Both accused were released on Promise to Appear in April 2012 for Perth Provincial Court.
