The first Almonte Curling Club ‘Learn 2 Curl’ program has ended and was a great success!
This Curling Canada program is designed to provide a supportive environment where adults can learn to curl over 12 weeks with instruction and opportunities to practice.
Through a survey of our 34 participants at the end of the session, the L2C team heard that overall the program is very good value, with just the right balance of instruction and game playing. Curlers felt that they made good progress and that they were ready to join a regular club league.
Martin Bleuthner, a L2C graduate who has joined evening curling, feels that the program has prepared him well to integrate into regular curling leagues. “We’ve gained great skills and a good knowledge of the game; and I’ve progressed faster than I would have without Learn 2 Curl,” says Mr. Bleuthner.
And Steve Conlon, an avid ACC curler who volunteered as an instructor for the program, says that he’s impressed by the enthusiasm of the new curlers and the progress that he saw them make over the course of the 12 weeks. “These new members will be a great asset to the club,” he says.
The ACC is pleased that through the Learn 2 Curl program, these new curlers have learned the fundamentals and basic strategy of curling. Now, they’re putting those skills to use as they join the regular ACC leagues. Welcome!
