There’s no doubt about it – it was a lively scene on Saturday night January 16th at the Almonte Old Town Hall when the variety show “Live from Mississippi Mills, it’s Saturday Night” played to a sold-out and supportive hometown audience. It was standing room only!!
Presented by the recently formed consortium of Festivals and Events of Mississippi Mills, the show was an entertaining fundraiser for the benefit of our local organizations that produce the many great cultural “happenings” that enrich our community. As everyone knows, there’s always something going on in Mississippi Mills! Our community has become known far and wide for its popular festivals and events.
Hosted by MC Fraser Scantlebury, the Saturday Night Live-style (SNL) evening was filled with a fascinating array of impressive talent that featured instrumental music, a House Band, dance, an art show, singing, choirs, videos, home-made pies, a fibre challenge and caricature puppets that were voiced by their look-alike owners. And don’t forget the generous door prizes!
Not only was “Live From Mississippi Mills, it’s Saturday Night” a fun show, but it was a reminder to all of us that Mississippi Mills is a really great place to live and that lots of wonderful, creative and supportive people call it home. We’re lucky.
If you’d like to get involved in any of the local festival and events, there’s probably a perfect outlet for your time and efforts and you’ll be welcomed warmly.
