1946 – 2026
Maureen Barnes-Adolph, a long-time resident of Almonte Ontario, passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on July 6, 2026 with her partner Dick, and daughters Sharon and Kimberly by her side. Born and raised in Ottawa, her careers included dental assistant, healthcare aide and veterinary assistant, where she particularly enjoyed working with all the animals that she cared so much about. A spiritual person by nature, Maureen lived her life with compassion for others and gave generously to charities, hospitals and causes to help those with special needs. Mother Earth and Humanity have lost a true friend!
Predeceased by her former husband of 20 years, Arthur Adolph, Maureen leaves behind her soulmate, best friend, and loving partner of 23 years, Dick Choquette; her siblings – Jo Ann McCoy (Mac), Donna Jessup (Sonny), and Linda Feenstra (Larry); her daughters Darlene Palmer (Ian), Kimberley Woolford, Christine Heath, and Sharon Charron (Mike), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Over the years, Maureen and Dick enjoyed their home in Almonte Ontario, their island cottage at White lake, and their extended stays in both Myrtle beach and Sedona Arizona. There, they rescued an abused little dog and made her Canadian. Tipperz became a true blessing in their lives, travelling with them everywhere, even on return trips to Sedona.
Maureen’s remains rest in two urns. The first joins her former husband Arthur Adolph in Ottawa at the Pinecrest Cemetery and the second will be inured the same day at White Lake Ontario, where Dick and Maureen have their final resting place.
In lieu of a service or formal reception, there will be a short gathering at the gravesite, Pinecrest Cemetery 2500 Baseline Road. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Inurement takes place there at 11:00 a.m, followed by the second at 1:00 p.m. in the White Lake Cemetery, 857 McLachlan Road, White Lake Ontario. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Darrell Vandenbrink of Almonte, for the very sensitive and responsive care he gave Maureen. Special thanks, as well, to the Ontario Health-at-Home Program and to the Lanark Community Paramedic Program for the invaluable services they each provide. Donations to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Research Foundation Canada in memory of Maureen would be appreciated
