A new year, a new attitude and possibly some new year’s resolutions to be made. Maybe that diet will last beyond February this time or is it time to stick to your budget and get that financial house in order. We all try to start the new year with a clean slate and a lot of determination in hopes that we will somehow make our life better over the next year. Personally, I will keep going to the gym and try to keep my wine, beer and spirits budget in line. I will squeeze every dollar out of it to get the best wines at a good price.
To start the year of right, here are some suggestions to help lessen the impact on your “wine budget”.
2013 East Dell Back Cab – Ontario VQA
($13.95 – LCBO 609875)
This unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Baco Noir is really appealing. It brings the earthiness of the Baco Noir together with the smoothness of a Cabernet Sauvignon. Blended flavours of dark fruit like backberry and plum with some herbaceous notes round out this wine. A really nice sipping wine on a cold winter night
Available at the Almonte LCBO or Carleton Place LCBO
2014 Lurton Piedra Negra Pinot Grigio – Mendoza Argentina
($12.95 – LCBO 556746)
A pale yellow extra dry Pinot Grigio from the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Argentina. The elevation of the vineyards coupled with mountain stream water gives this Pinot Grigio some minerality and a lemon citrus medium finish. A nice wine to pair with fish or chicken.
Available at the Carleton Place LCBO or March Road LCBO in Kanata
Happy Holidays!
