On Monday December 5th students and teachers at Pakenham Public School participated in the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code is a global event where tens of millions of students in 180+ countries around the world learn computer coding as part of Computer Science Week. The grade 5/6 students spent the hour teaching the students in grades K-4, and their teachers. The programming impressed mayor Shaun McLaughlin too! “It looks very cool and it represents the basic elements of code,” he said.
Reporter John S. also checked in with the grade 2/3/4 teacher, Mrs. Hare, to hear her thoughts. She said “My students and I think it’s intriguing and very addictive”. Speaking of her students, I interviewed some of them and this is what they said. Adam said “it’s exciting”, Addy gave it a thumbs up, and Leif said “It is fun!” Overall the day was a success and we can truly say “We love Coding!”
