The Ottawa Citizen ran a story today on local entrepreneur Ed Atwell’s low-fat doughnut business, Healthy Food Technologies Inc. Here’s an excerpt:
People are travelling from as far away as Kingston, Cornwall and even Montreal by the busload to buy doughnuts in Almonte from a man who says he can make deep-fried fast foods with 50 to 70 per cent less fat.
“I believe this is a technology that is going to curb if not eliminate the obesity epidemic,” says Ed Atwell, who has patents pending on his invention and who says he is in talks with several large fast-food companies.
