Forty seniors met at the Almonte Arena on Tuesday, Feb.19 to compete in the remaining event from the Chili Days Winter Festival that was held yearly back in the 1980s and ’90s. Partners were selected at random and players volunteered to referee and score since it was a casual fun event.
Six players from Watson’s Corners joined the Mississippi Mills and Carleton Place players.
The Recreation people of Mississippi Mills provided the morning coffee break and the trophy which has winners lasted back to 1989- sadly many of whom are no longer with us. Denis of Leatherworks again provided a wonderful luncheon complete with 2 kinds of chili.
Each team played 4 games with 5 teams in each of 4 pools. The winners of each Poolwho played off in the semi-Finals were: Elizabeth Vaughan & Sid Mohr; Ed Bowden & Betty Windsor; Jean Smith& Ann Laetham and Eleanor Redmond & Dianne Hogg. The final game between Ed Bowden & Betty Windsor against Eleanor Redmond & Dianne Hogg resulted in Eleanor & Dianne winning the trophy.
Marilyn Snedden, convenor wishes to thank all the willing volunteers who made the day such fun for all.
