Seniors home to proceed this fall.

LeviMayor John Levi called a special council meeting October 2 to get approval from Council to issue a building permit for an 120 unit seniors home on Paterson Street in Almonte. The mayor and planner negotiated with the proponent an agreement to a reduced security deposit so that building could go forward this fall and not be delayed until next year. The agreement was recommended to council by Stephen Stirling, the Mississippi Mills  town planner and after much discussion passed 7-2 on a recorded vote. Those voting for were Mayor Levi, Councillors Ferguson, Watters, Abbott, Cameron, Minnille  and Dalgity. Opposed were Councillors Edwards and Wilkinson. Councillors McLaughlin and Gilles were absent. The building permit was issued Friday October 3.
