Sivarulrasa-curated exhibit at Croatian embassy

Mirana Zuger, FUEGO

Jointly presented by Sivarulrasa Gallery and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Canada

A solo exhibition, Oct 23 – Nov 17, 2017
229 Chapel Street, Ottawa

Almonte’s Sivarulrasa Gallery is presenting two simultaneous shows this Fall. At their main exhibition space at 34 Mill Street, Almonte, the exhibition “Serenade” of works by artist Gayle Kells is currently ongoing until November 19.

At the same time, Sivarulrasa Gallery is partnering with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to present Fuego, a solo exhibition of paintings, works on paper, and sculpture by Croatian-Canadian artist Mirana Zuger. “Fuego” is “fire” in Spanish. Mirana Zuger’s works burst with vitality, energy, and brilliant colour. At the centre of this exhibition are 15 intricate new works on paper, all completed in 2017. Measuring just 12 x 9 inches each, these smaller works are a layering of the artist’s marks and intentions on a micro scale, in contrast to the grand physical gestures that animate her large 7-foot canvases, two of which are also part of the exhibition.

Fuego will be curated and installed by Sivarulrasa Gallery at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, at their beautifully restored embassy building at 229 Chapel Street, Ottawa. The show will be open to the public from Oct 23 to Nov 17, 2017, Monday-Friday, 10am to 4pm, during the Embassy’s visiting hours. For visitor inquiries, please contact the Embassy at 613-562-7820. For inquiries about the art work, please call Sivarulrasa Gallery at 613-256-8033.
