The Community and Economic Development Committee (CEDC), chaired by Arnie Francis has come up with a novel project to promote Mississippi Mills. It has commissioned and produced 2 iPad kiosks as part of a pilot program to help inform visitors about activities and events happening all over Mississippi Mills. The kiosks are stylized stands supporting an iPad. The iPad will be linked to the Mississippi Mills Tourism site (http://exploremississippimills.ca/) which is currently active. The CEDC will promote the kiosks as part of its ongoing marketing initiatives.
While the kiosks will be anchored in the selected location, they are also designed to be transported to gatherings at other venues, such as the arenas and the Almonte Old Town Hall . The kiosks are quite distinctively branded with the Miss Mills “spokespuppet” image and are an attraction themselves!
The CEDC will be monitoring any feedback received on the iPad kiosk Program to assess if additional kiosks would be beneficial to increasing the Town’s exposure in Mississippi Mills at fairs, festivals, sugar bushes and so on.
Through the CEDC, Mississippi Mills’ communications channels, including the current Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/MississippiMills) the existing website (www.mississippimills.ca) and the tourism site (http://exploremississippimills.ca/) are being improved to harness the visitor potential that all corners of town offer.
On December 15 Mississippi Mills Council Council chose eSolutions Group, http://www.esolutionsgroup.ca/en/. They have worked with upwards 75 municipalities and Mississippi Mills Community/Cultural Programmer Nicole Guthrie stated that their experience shines through. The town plans to begin work with the firm early in the new year and anticipates the new site will go live in March.
