At the meeting August 21, Council discussed the pros and cons, facts and opinions, of changing the current severance policy. In the end the only decision made was to ask the planner to analyze the effects of changing key aspects of current rural lot development policy:
- how many new severances would be potentially available (in addition to the 700 currently possible under existing rules) if we changed the limit from 2 per holding to 3
- how many new severances would be potentially available if we moved the existence date for a holding (an existing property allowed to be severed) from 1973 to 2000
- relaxed the ban on estate lot subdivisions
Council will hold another meeting at a yet unspecified date to discuss these issues. It will be advertised and public discussion will be encouraged
