Operators are (not) standing by — support the Millstone

As many readers will know, the Millstone is a volunteer-run paper with an unpaid staff of two. We don’t charge for any service we provide and we don’t take paid advertising.

As an online publication, our ongoing expenses—unlike a print newspaper—are not especially high. But we do have them, related to our web hosting, software upgrades and so on. We rely on reader donations to help us cover those costs.

We also rely on our regular and occasional contributors to help keep Mississippi Mills residents current with what’s new and interesting in our community and the world. Many thanks to Bruce and Carolyn Waddell, Susan Hanna, Richard van Duyvendyk, Neil Carleton, Bill Chapman, Gay Cook, Cheryl Baxter, Theresa Peluso and Arnie Francis, to name just a few of the people who have contributed so much to the paper over the years. And not to forget Diana of Diana’s Quiz, who has been with us almost from the beginning!

And we rely on all our readers to share tips, stories, letters and photos of interest to people in our community. Without you, there would be no Millstone.

A final note: at some point, we stopped receiving email notifications of donations and so we weren’t able to individually thank those who supported us. If that’s you, you have our sincere appreciation.

If you’d like to make a small donation to help cover our costs you can do that through PayPal. The link is at the very bottom right corner of every page on the website: https://millstonenews.com/
