Almonte Lawn Bowling Club – A New Season

Almonte Lawn Bowling logoOur season began in May with cold and windy weather but our members enthusiasm was not dampened as we have had a good turnout for each of our weekly afternoon sessions (beginning on June 3rd the Club bowls at 7:00 PM, Monday, Wednesday and Friday). This year the Club has established a formal training program which allows new members to quickly become comfortable with their skill level before joining the regular evening play.

On the weekend of 16/17 May the Club held its annual Yard Sale to raise funds in support of our Club. The Club appreciates the support received from the Town Council but recognizes we also have a responsibility to help financially as much as possible. This past weekend, 23 and 24 May we held our Open House which attracted a number of new and interested members who showed a keen interest in the game.

This year the first two weeks of play are free for those wishing to try the sport and the first year fee is only $50 if they elect to join the Club. Normal yearly membership is $85 for bowling from May until September. New members new only provide their enthusiasm and a flat pair of shoes (sneakers are sufficient) as the Club has sufficient bowls (not balls) for beginners. Teams are formed on an ad hoc basis based upon those in attendance on play nights as we recognize that members cannot always commit to being present each evening.

We welcome new members at any time during the year and suggest this is a GREAT WAY to spend a social evening with friends and get a little fresh air and exercise at the same time.

Come join us for fun filled evenings this summer – we welcome you
