Dear Editor,
Like Fern (September 12 letter), I miss a progressive federal government too.
PROGRESSVE, adjective: favouring, advocating, or implementing social reform or new ideas.
Alas, we’ve been burdened with a federal government whose documented record of infamous achievement ranges from contempt of Parliament to conviction of election fraud. Along the way has been the muzzling of scientists, the shabby treatment of veterans, ‘random’ audits of environmental organizations, the Duffy senate scandal, and so much more that’s disgraceful. http://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2015/08/10/Harper-Abuses-of-Power-Final/.
Amidst the politics of fear, there have been powerful expressions of grassroots determination with songs like “Harperman” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei50lM6ab1c and “Heave Steve” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWgYC6wWNWU. Progressive change, of course, is only a vote away on election day.
