Book Launch

Archives Lanark has published the eighth book in the series of rural schools of Lanark County.  The Rural Schools of Pakenham Township will be on sale for $45 at a booth in the Pakenham Arena as part of the Pakenham Fair from 10-4 on Saturday, August 15. Copies of the Ramsay book (reprinted) and Drummond will also be for sale there and at Archives Lanark.

These books provide the best documentation of the education system from the beginning in the early 1800’s until 1970 when the rural schools were amalgamated into the larger schools still in use. They involved thousands of volunteer hours but there are still 5 townships not published so it’s an ongoing project .

Archives Lanark is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm at 1920 Concession 7 (Drummond Center) until Thanksgiving when we revert to one day per week. For more info contact George Stewart at 613 256-3756 or check our website at www.archiveslanark.ca.
